Senior Python/Django Developer

Lucky Voice is looking for a new Senior Developer to take the lead with the next phase of our technology development. Our vision is to "bring singing together back into everyday life" - to provide people with the means to sing together whoever and wherever they are.  Our ambition is nothing less than to own the 'social singing' market worldwide.

Following a from-scratch rebuild of Lucky Voice Home during 2009, we are now seeking a full-time, in-house Django developer as we look to build out our infrastructure for delivering high-quality karaoke entertainment through multiple channels.

The successful candidate will work on some exciting architecture, technical development and scaling challenges, including extending our new API and backend to power our numerous bar venues and franchises around the UK, as well as investigating mobile platforms and other new channels.

Responsibilities

You will be expected to:

  • * Take ownership of our Django, CSS/XHTML and jQuery codebase.
  • * Work with our experienced CTO and skilled freelance Flex/AIR developer to architect the next phase of our systems, including extending our API.
  • * Maintain and add functionality to our existing sites, in particular Lucky Voice Home. There are lots of fun things we want to add to the re-vamped service.
  • * Maintain our Amazon EC2 ecosystem. It's currently fairly modest, but is expected to grow significantly.

Skills

We're looking for someone with:

  • * Fluency in Python and experience of building or contributing to large Django web applications.
  • * A good understanding of RESTful web services
  • * Experience of, or an interest in, real-time push/long-polling technologies.
  • * Experience of, or an interest in, working on high-availability and highly scalable systems.
  • * Experience of test-driven development, or at a minimum significant use of unit testing.
  • * Experience of, or an interest in, working with Amazon AWS
  • * Experience of, or an interest in, working with and tuning PostgreSQL, Apache and Nginx.
  • * Experience of working with Git or another DVCS.
  • * Competence with Linux.
  • * Experience of basic Linux sysadmin tasks

Salary: £35k - £45k, depending on experience

Performance-related bonus: Up to 10% of salary per year

Office hours: 9am to 6pm

Location: W1, London

Holiday: 25 days per year
